Gamerz Tek SNES Clone Review

Good, but not great.

Looking for a way to play your Super Nintendo cartridges?  Although I have been playing my original SNES since 1992, the day will come when my classic console dies.  It may be best to have a backup plan as classic consoles continue to get more difficult to find.  What is a good back up you ask? We may have the answer for you!  Check out this review for the SNES Gamerz Tek Clone brought to you by StopDrop&Retro.  Don’t have time for the video?  Check out the notes below.

The SNES Gamerz Tek Clone is a good looking console.  It is smaller than the original Super Nintendo, cutting off the excess back end,  and utilizes push buttons rather than sliding ones to activate games.  SNES cartridges go in and out of the cartridge port with ease but it still feels as if the console has a good grip on your game.  Nothing cheap or flimsy feeling.  The picture display is nice with color and sound that feels spot on.  The volume is a little loud but that is easily remedied by turning down the television.  The only exception to the quality gameplay and compatibility is the SNES Gamerz Tek Clone’s inability to play Game Boy games.  Although the Super Game Boy is compatible, the controls feel off and the sound is just awful.  If playing Game Boy games is a must, this may not be the system for you.

The controller is also a huge hiccup for the system.  Although the Gamerz Tek SNES controller looks fantastic, the buttons feel heavy and the D-Pad a little too unforgiving.  This is not the best choice for precise controls, especially for Game Boy games.  You may want to stick with a classic SNES controller if you can get your hands on one.

While some of these shortcomings may be enough to dissuade you from purchasing the SNES Gamerz Tek Clone, you might want to give it a chance.  The price is right, 45.99 on Amazon, for what this system does.  If all you are looking for is a way to play SNES cartridges, the SNES Gamerz Tek Clone is the system for you.
